Founder, Kids Domain
Let's go back in history... way back to the beginning of the web as we know it today, 1995. There were not many sites designed for children at the time, and I couldn't find the sort of things I wanted for my children easily. So I decided to do something about it.
I started a site for parents and teachers with holiday activities and free kids software downloads. As my site grew, it was re-launched as Kids Domain, combining efforts with Game Domain's Children Software Review area. More and more families were coming to the web, and we kept growing - into a top 10 site for children and their caregivers, with over 1600 pages of content.
Content Included:
Holiday Activities
Crafts
Downloads
Software Reviews
Brainbuilders
Online Games
Free Clip Art
Education Materials
As the site grew, my responsibilites shifted from production to management. I managed employees, weekly updates, site promotion, content focus, and developed custom advertising packages with the marketing team.
Kids Domain's success led to several acquisitions by larger companies: Attitude Networks, theGlobe, Kaboose, and ultimately by Disney. Unfortunately, with the Kaboose aquisition, our team was not hired, and now many years later, the original site content is no longer online.
